Mandarins, tomatoes and avocados have jumped the drift during a year in which Queensland primary industries have taken a mauling from one of the most horrible droughts in recorded history.
Old Minister for Primary Industries, Tim Mulherin, states the forecast for total fruit and vegetable industries, mandarins, avocadoes and tomatoes especially, were considerably better in 2006-07 than in the 2005-06 seasons.
"Overall the 2007-08 forecasts for total fruit are up about $200 million on a year ago, to $975 million in Queensland," he said.
"Total value of vegetables has risen in 12 months from $740 million to $810 million.
