Fruits and Veggies Help set off Oral Allergy Syndrome

About One-third of people with cyclic allergies might go through oral allergy syndrome (OAS) that results from cross-reactivity between seasonal airborne pollen proteins from weeds, grass and trees and related proteins in some fresh fruits and vegetables.

Common symptoms of OAS - as well recognized as pollen-food syndrome -- comprise: itchiness, tingling or swelling of the mouth, tongue and esophagus immediately after consuming fresh fruits, vegetables and certain kinds of other foods, according to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI).
