Dates are dried fruit is the fruit where majority of water content has been removed either naturally, through sun drying, or through the use of dryers or dehydrators. Dates, the staple food of the Middle East countries is a sweet fruit. Date palms or Phoenix dactylifera (scientific name) produce clusters of oval, dark reddish-brown drupes, called dates below their fronds. Around 600-1700 clusters are present in a single cluster. The skin of the dried fruit is wrinkled and covered with a sticky, waxy film. Dates help in fighting constipation, intestinal disorders, weight gain, heart problems, sexual weakness, diarrhoea and abdominal cancer.
