Date Bread Breakfast-Fruit Recipe

Dates are nutritious fruits which have a good amount of calcium, potassium, magnesium and contain more antioxidants than apples, oranges, grapes, mangoes and cantaloupe. As they are normally eaten dried, they are available throughout the year and they can be easily purchased in nearby supermarkets.

Dates can be stored for a longer time but for best flavor and tender texture, it can be stored up to 8 months in the refrigerator, in an airtight container. One can even freeze dates to store for up to 5 years! They are naturally fat-free, cholesterol free, sodium free and they are a good source of fiber and cure many indigestion problems. At young age, kids need a lot of dates to stay healthy and for females it is a good source of energy to strengthen their bones. Below you can find the ingredients needed to prepare this recipe as well as the procedure too!

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cup of dates
  • 2 ½ cups of wheat flour
  • 1 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts
  • ½ cup of sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 TBL melted butter
  • 1 ½ cup of boiling water

Instructions:

  1. Pour boiling water over dates and leave it undisturbed for 10 minutes.
  2. Then add whole wheat flour and chopped walnuts to the dates.
  3. In a separate bowl make a paste by mixing sugar, egg, baking soda, salt, vanilla and melted butter in the respective amount mentioned in the ingredients list.
  4. Combine the sugar mixture with the date/flour mixture and stir it till everything is moistened.
  5. Avoid over mixing and pour the batter into a well greased loaf pan.
  6. Bake the mixture at 350 for about 50 to 60 minutes or until the center is cooked.

Now you can insert them in sticks and make them look very attractive to eat. You can also insert fresh fruits like bananas and strawberries in-between them in a stick for a perfect stomach filling healthy breakfast. As they provide the necessary vitamins and minerals, this recipe can be served for all kinds of ages.
